The urge to create something as I grew older led me to open my own restaurant, STRETCH Kitchen, in the heart of downtown Lenexa. The early cooking jobs I had I was a full-time chef in a small restaurant in Kansas City, Missouri.

Giving the menu an artistic flair, I created the signature "signature" and was introduced to the FOOD Network. STRETCH tours the country and presents the best of Lenexa's art, food, music, art and culture, and art and art in general.

I am a member of the Lenexa Arts Council, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization and a member of the board of directors of the Arts and Culture Commission of the City of Lenexa. I am the executive director of the Kansas State University Center for Art and Culture and an associate professor of art and culture at the University of Missouri - Kansas City.

In addition to public art and food, STRETCH has also expanded her creative career to television, working on five episodes of ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. She is currently filming for the show and has appeared on a number of other TV shows including The Apprentice and America's Next Top Chef.

STRETCH has built sculptures around the world, built a fire well at EMHE's Kansas City site, designed and created custom steel furniture for a family in Witchita, KS, and built an outdoor sculpture for the Texas State Fairgrounds in Fort Worth, TX, damaged by Hurricane Rita. At EMH, she has designed, created and realized a number of public works of art for local restaurants and events in recent years. She enjoys and eats local food from coast to coast around the world, as well as art and design work in her spare time.
